If you receive a “Returned to Sender” scan for an address in your Campaign Dashboard, this indicates that USPS attempted delivery at the original address, was unsuccessful, and the mailpiece has been scanned by the Post Office to be returned to the return address.
You will receive a portion of these back to your return address, but not all of them.
In these cases, the address you mailed to was invalid, but was not captured by the USPS in their NCOA (National Change of Address) database that all eduPostal mailers are pre-processed through.
eduPostal will automatically mark all contacts that receive “Return To Sender” scans with an “Invalid” code, so that subsequent mailings to the same list will not repeatedly send to the bad address.
Returned to Sender scans do not apply to Canadian mailings.
